We are the Australian Institute of Family Studies, the Australian Government’s key independent research body and advisor in the area of family wellbeing, based in Melbourne. We create and communicate knowledge to accelerate positive outcomes for families and communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented manager and researcher to lead the Australian Gambling Research Centre (AGRC). You’ll be putting your research skills to work for social purpose, while exercising strategic leadership and oversight of the centre’s research agenda.

As one of our senior leaders, the AGRC Manager will demonstrate exceptional management and interpersonal skills and will model the Institute’s and APS Values. You’ll be a persuasive and influential communicator, as communicating the centre’s research to relevant stakeholders is a key aspect of this role.

To be successful in this position you’ll also require:

  • a demonstrated understanding of policy issues related to gambling and the prevention and reduction of gambling-related harm for Australians, families and communities.
  • a track record of effectively managing research projects relevant to gambling including human and financial resources, governance, risk and reporting processes.
  • the ability to work with and consult with key stakeholders to progress the team’s purpose, objectives and research agenda.
  • relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in a social or behavioural science (e.g. psychology, sociology, economics) and a demonstrated interest in ongoing learning.
  • a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and as a member of the senior leadership team.

The role is available on a full or part-time non-ongoing basis for 18 months with the possibility of extension to a maximum term of three years. The position is an Executive Level 2 role with a salary range of $112,805 to $130,034 plus 15.4 percent superannuation.
