Report—Statutory review of the Children and Community Services Act 2004

This review examined the effectiveness and operation of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 in Western Australia.

This report has been published by the Department of Communities, Child Protection and Family Support, Western Australia.

It presents a review that was undertaken by a committee and working group consisting of key stakeholders from government and the community services sector. The review made a range of recommendations, which include:

  • increasing independent oversight of out-of-home care
  • improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities
  • providing higher standards of foster carers
  • promoting the priority delivery of cross government services to children and young people who are, or have been in care
