Report—Reality bites: Australia's youth unemployment in a millennial era

This report has been published by the Brotherhood of St Laurence.

It provides a snapshot of labour market trends for young people aged 15- 24. Among its key findings, the report highlights that:

  • the rate of youth unemployment is more than double that of the general unemployment rate
  • young people undertake just as wide a range of job search activities as older unemployed people
  • almost 1 in 5 unemployed young people are long term unemployed
  • young people face a range of barriers to gaining employment.
