News – Australian Government response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse

The Australian Government has published its response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

This response has been published by the Australian Government.

In response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the Australian Government has committed to:

  • establish a National Office for Child Safety from July 2018
  • deliver a formal apology to victims and survivors of institutional child sexual abuse on 22 October 2018
  • establish a National Redress Scheme from 1 July 2018
  • take action on all recommendations where the federal government is responsible, and work with state and territory governments to ensure children are safe from abuse in institutional care
  • report on progress in implementing the recommendations.
