Report – Saving lives. Saving money: The case for better investment in Victorian mental health

This report sets out an economic case for investing in Victoria's mental health.

This report has been published by Mental Health Victoria.

Using research data and advice from expert stakeholders in the mental health field, this report argues that Victoria needs sustained long-term investment in the mental health system.

Priority areas identified include:

  • youth and adult preventative services
  • hospital beds
  • suicide prevention
  • access to housing.

Using a return on investment model, the report argues that increased funding will produce positive economic and social returns.
