Report – Support for new babies and parents in New South Wales

This inquiry focused on ways to improve physical health, mental health and child protection outcomes for parents and babies in New South Wales.

This report has been published by the Committee on Community Services, Parliament of New South Wales.

This report argues that supporting new parents is the key to ensure that children have a happy, healthy start to life. It examines ways to improve supports to parents during their children's early years.

Recommendations include:

  • better coordination of services for new parents
  • fixing gaps in services
  • making services more accessible
  • helping parents who need extra support
  • improving the capacity of health and child protection staff
  • using data to improve services.
