This report highlights progress made towards the Closing the Gap targets for Indigenous Australians.

This report is published by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

This report outlines the progress made in the Closing the Gap initiative to address the disparity of outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people in Australia. This report will be the final report using the 2008 framework and next year will see the transition to a new system.

The report summarises outcomes across the seven Closing the Gap targets:

  • early childhood education (on track)
  • Year 12 attainment (on track)
  • child mortality rates (not on track)
  • life expectancy (not on track)
  • school attendance (not on track)
  • literacy and numeracy (not on track)
  • unemployment (not on track).
