Report – Profile of children and young people in WA

This report provides a snapshot of key statistics relating to children and young people in Western Australia.

This report has been published by the Commissioner for Children and Young People (CCYP) WA.

This report provides the latest statistics on children and young people in Western Australia, including population distribution, child care, school education, family composition and housing. The report also looks into vulnerability and hardship among children and young people, such as through out-of-home care, youth justice, disability and poverty.

Among its key findings, the report highlights:

  • while most WA children and young people are doing well, around 44,000 are living below the poverty line
  • more than 6,000 children and young people are in families on the public housing wait list
  • around 152,000 children and young people live in regional and remote areas.
