Please just say you're proud of me: Perspectives of young people on parent engagement and doing well at school

23 July 2019

This report shares young people's views on how they want parents to support them at school.

This report has been published by the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY).

The report presents findings from focus groups with students in years 10 and 12 on what the ideal parent or carer can do to help them at school. It also includes a discussion of the pressures and challenges they experience when trying to do well at school.

The findings highlight how the right kind of encouragement from parents and carers can make all the difference to the young people's outcomes. The report concludes with ideas for helping parents and carers, and improving parent engagement.

Access the report via the ARACY website.
