Monitoring of complaints systems

8 October 2019

This report assesses whether governments agencies in Western Australia have child friendly complaints mechanisms.

This report has been published by the Commissioner for Children and Young People (CCYP), WA.

The report presents findings for 2018/19 on how well government agencies are responding to children and young people's complaints. In particular, it examines how easily children and young people can find and understand current child-focused complaints systems and policies

Among its key findings, the review found:

  • 46% of agencies surveyed reported that they recorded the number of complaints received from, or on behalf of, children and young people
  • 26% of agencies described their complaints process as child-friendly
  • 11% of agencies analysed complaints received from, or on behalf of, children and young people separately from complaints concerning adults.

Access the report via the CCYP website.
