Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System: Interim report

This report presents recommendations to improve the mental health system in Victoria.

This report has been published by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.

The interim report contains a number of priority recommendations that address immediate needs and lay the foundations for a new approach to mental health.

Recommendations include:

  • a new tax or levy to increase funding
  • outreach services and follow-up care for children and young people at risk of suicide
  • an additional 170 youth and adult acute mental health beds
  • the expansion of Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing teams
  • expanding consumer and family-carer lived experience workforces.
