Children's rights in Australia: A scorecard

This report assesses how well children's rights are protected and promoted across Australia.

This report has been published by the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC).

It highlights Australia's progress in addressing children's rights, including their rights to participation, safety, family life, education, and justice.

The report draws attention to several areas of concern:

  • increasing numbers of children in out-of-home care
  • increasing rates of child suicide and self-harm
  • high rates of child poverty
  • poorer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
