Inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence: Report

This inquiry makes recommendations for Australian's next National Plan to prevent and respond to family and sexual violence.

This report has been published by the Parliament of Australia.

This inquiry will help inform the next National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children.

The inquiry's report makes 88 recommendations, ranging from improved data collection and increased funding, to recognition of the role of economic equality and drug and alcohol issues. Specific recommendations include:

  • develop a national, uniform definition of family, domestic and sexual violence
  • involve victim-survivors and other non-government stakeholders in program evaluation
  • establish a new National Commissioner for the prevention of family, domestic and sexual violence.
