Out of sight: Systemic inquiry into children and young people who are absent or missing from residential care

29 June 2021

This inquiry looked into the high number of young people missing from care in Victoria, including their reasons and victimisation.

This report has been published by the Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP), Victoria.

The report presents the findings of a Victorian inquiry into why children and young people go missing or are absent from care, and the harms, victimisation and sexual exploitation they may experience when away.

Though there are a wide range of reasons why children and young people leave care, a key driver is a lack of connection to carers, fellow residents and the residential care home.

Access the report via the CCYP Victoria website.
