Assertive outreach with women experiencing homelessness: A rapid review of the literature

16 November 2021

This report reviews what is known about assertive outreach programs for homeless women and the factors for success.

This report has been published by the University of Newcastle.

It presents learning from a review of the research on assertive outreach programs, which aims to address the underlying causes of homelessness rather than only providing support.

The review looked at worker attributes, worker safety, models, engagement and interagency collaboration. The findings will help inform the development of a specialist assertive outreach program for women experiencing homelessness in the Hunter region of New South Wales.
