Western Australia to increase range of professions who are mandatory reporters

5 May 2022

New categories of mandatory reporters being phased in from November 2022 to May 2025 in Western Australia.

The Western Australian Government has introduced this new legislation.

The Children and Community Services Amendment Bill 2021 came into affect on 1 May 2022, and makes several amendments to the Children and Community Services Act 2004.

A key change is increasing the range of professions who must report concerns of suspected child sexual abuse. New professions will be phased in over the next 3 years, and include ministers of religion, psychologists, early childhood workers, youth justice workers, out of home care workers and school counsellors.
