Question: Does an instrument exist already that you can use?
If the answer is NO – ask yourself “Do you have the expertise to create one?”
If you DO NOT have the expertise to create one:
- Hire/work with someone who does; then write it, test it, review & revise it.
- Test it again.
If you DO have the expertise to create an instrument, then:
- Write it, test it, review & revise it.
- Test it again.
Question: Does an instrument exist already that you can use?
If the answer is YES - does it need to be adapted in some way?
If it DOES NOT have to be adapted: then:
- Consider any copyright or commercial licensing & cost issues
- Proceed
If it DOES have to be adapted in some way – identify IN WHAT WAY? E.g., wording; response scales, context, language, format & structure, or length? Then:
- Consider any copyright or commercial licensing & cost issues.
- Adapt it, test it, review and revise it.
- Test it again
