The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) requires authors to assign copyright in their work to AIFS (representing the Commonwealth of Australia) before the work is published by AIFS. This includes articles in Family Matters, and all other AIFS publications, such as publications by the Child Family Community Australia information exchange.
Authors are also required to warrant that the work is original and they are the owners of the copyright in the work. If copyright in the work is owned by more than one person, then each author must make the same warranty and assignment. Authors should also note that the copyright in publications first published by Australian Institute of Family Studies is owned by the Commonwealth of Australia by operation of the Copyright Act.
