The Productivity Commission is undertaking an inquiry into migrant entry to Australia and will publish a draft report in November 2015. The inquiry is examining the costs and benefits of immigration, the interaction of temporary and permanent migration, and the potential for qualitative restrictions to be replaced by user charges. Commissioners Alison McClelland and Paul Lindwall will discuss the scope of the project, some of the major issues, especially relating to families, and the feedback that has been received from stakeholders through various meetings and submissions.
