Information for parents
The next round of the Growing Up in Australia study has started.
Because of your continued support, the study is still a leading source of evidence on what it’s really like to grow up in Australia.
The information that you and your child have shared with the study has helped researchers and policy makers understand how best to support Australian young people and their families.
How to complete your survey
During our next fieldwork activity you can complete your survey online or over the phone.
Online survey
You will receive a letter and an email containing a web link to your unique online survey and unique log-in code.
Follow the link and use your log-in code to complete your survey.
Telephone interview
If you choose not to complete your survey online, our interviewers may call you to organise a suitable time for you to complete your telephone interview.
You can check if the phone number calling you is from Roy Morgan by visiting their website.
What you will be asked about
Your interview will have a focus on you, not your child who is now a young adult.
We may ask about your work, health and wellbeing, relationships and income. Your experiences are still important for us to understand, particularly as your role as a parent or caregiver may be changing.
As your child is now an adult, we kindly ask for your support in ensuring that they complete their own Growing Up in Australia survey. Their survey is designed to capture their unique perspectives, and it’s important that their voices shine through.
Thank you for your understanding and for empowering your child to share their experiences independently.
Who is conducting the research
The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) in collaboration with Roy Morgan who will conduct this survey. Growing Up in Australia is funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS).
Participation in the study is voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time.
Spend, donate or both!
To show appreciation of your continued participation, during our next fieldwork activity we are offering you a $20 e-gift card that you can choose to spend at a listed retailer.
This fieldwork activity we have partnered with The Smith Family and World Wildlife Fund Australia. If you prefer you can choose to have us donate your $20 to one of these charities.
