Information Publication Scheme

The Information Publication Scheme (IPS) transforms the freedom of information framework from one that responds to individual requests for access to documents to one that requires Australian Government agencies to take a proactive approach to publishing information. Commencing on 1 May 201, the scheme:

  • requires Australian Government agencies to publish information publication plans
  • specifies categories of information that must be published
  • provides a means for agencies to proactively publish other government information.

Further information on the IPS is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) website.

Information published under the scheme

The Institute has developed an Information Publication Scheme Agency Plan which outlines how we will meet the Information Publication Scheme requirements. The plan states that AIFS will publish particular documents under the following headings:

Who we are

What we do

Our reports and responses to Parliament

These are available on our corporate information page.

Routine requested information and disclosure log

AIFS will clearly identify in our disclosure log any documents that have been released in response to FOI requests. This requires us to publish information contained in those documents.
