Defne has worked in psychology and research for over 10 years. She is an endorsed health psychologist and her primary areas of practice and research centre on clinical health psychology and health promotion topics.
Currently, Defne works as a Senior Research Officer within the Longitudinal Lifecourse Studies (LLS) team at the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS). The main project she works on is the Ten to Men study. Prior to joining AIFS, Defne worked at Deakin University and ACU on large-scale longitudinal studies within the health care sector.
In terms of her clinical work, Defne is a practicing psychologist, working currently in private practice. She has extensive clinical experience having worked in a range of services across child, youth and adult programs, inpatient and outpatient settings, within both the private and public sectors.
