Overview

The Australian Institute of Family Studies was commissioned by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet to conduct a three year study of the living standards of Australian families. This report presents the results of the household survey undertaken in the city of Berwick, Vic. Berwick is a rapidly growing municipality on the fringe of metropolitan Melbourne and is one of the five outer suburban area covered by the survey. The chapters in the report cover: the Australian Living Standards Study and the city of Berwick economic resources, employment, unemployment and training, housing, health services, transport, child care and early childhood services, primary and secondary education, leisure and recreation, neighbourhood and local services, family relationships, and health status and personal well being. All the chapters have been indexed individually.
