The combined effect of multiple problems within a family can greatly raise children’s risk of harm, and practitioners may feel overwhelmed or under-equipped to deal with the complexity of these families’ needs. This paper describes how practitioners can develop confidence in supporting children in these families.

From accepting it is OK not to know all the answers, through developing cultural competence, to asking for help, this paper provides practitioners with general guidance and case studies to help them work with families with complex needs.
