Family Law, Family Violence & Elder Abuse

Louise Press joined AIFS in September 2021 as a Research Officer within the Family Law, Family Violence and Elder Abuse Research Team. Louise completed a Bachelor of International and Global Studies (majoring in Sociology) at the University of Sydney in 2019 and is currently completing her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), also at the University of Sydney. As part of her International and Global Studies degree, Louise has studied abroad in both Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Prior to joining AIFS, Louise gained experience in criminal law, care and protection matters, and broader legal practice at community legal centres in NSW, namely Aboriginal Legal Service, Redfern Legal Centre and Youth Law Australia. Louise also has exposure to quantitative research methods.

As a Research Officer, Louise will be working on the Compliance with and Enforcement of Family Law Parenting Orders project, the Evaluation of the Small Claims Property Pilot, and the Evaluation of Lawyer-assisted Property Mediation: Legal Aid Commission Trial.
