Uma Jatkar is a Senior Research Officer with the Australian Gambling Research Centre. With a background in law and public health, Uma has a strong interest in promoting health equity and translating research outcomes through regulation, legal and public health policies. Uma has contributed to several important AGRC projects including the baseline evaluation of the National Consumer Protection Framework for Online Wagering, Gambling in Australia during COVID 19 and the ANROWS-funded study of the Relationship Between Gambling and Domestic Violence against Women. Prior to joining AIFS, she undertook various roles within federal and state government, academia and the not-for-profit sectors. Her work has included a focus on alcohol policy and regulation, Indigenous health and strategic planning for equitable health outcomes. Uma’s additional expertise includes managing international health projects and access to medicines.
