Overview
This bulletin compiles current statistics on the labour force in Australia. Paid work is fundamental to the creation and maintenance of living standards in families, and is an important aspect of family welfare and family policy. The bulletin compares changing trends over the 1970s, including the participation of married women in the labour force, labour force status and family composition, patterns of part time and full time employment, teenagers, birth place, unemployment rates of family heads, and the affect of unemployment on families. Most statistics have been derived from Australian Bureau of Statistics publications on labour force.
