Daisy Smith

Daisy is a Research Officer in the Family Law & Elder Abuse team. Daisy completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) degree at RMIT University, in 2014.

Prior to working at AIFS, Daisy worked as a Research Officer in the field of sexual violence in residential aged care. Daisy co-authored the first Australian e-training specifically designed to prevent sexual violence in aged care and was also involved in the development of the sexual violence training for health practitioners, an initiative under the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Children 2010-2022. Daisy has contributed to multiple national inquiries regarding the rights of older persons and to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights of Older Persons (2021). Daisy has attended as an expert witness at the House of Representatives inquiry into Family, Domestic, and sexual violence in October 2020, and had recommendations from her research endorsed by this, and other inquiries.
