Safeguarding Children from Child Sexual Abuse: Lessons from Queensland’s 'In Plain Sight' Review

Overview

In December 2025, the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) released the 'In Plain Sight' report, following an extensive review of system responses to child sexual abuse. This inquiry was prompted by the case of a childcare worker whose actions revealed significant shortcomings in Queensland’s child protection systems.

AIFS contributed a commissioned research report, Safeguarding children from child sexual abuse (PDF), which examined regulatory frameworks and best practice approaches for safeguarding children in early childhood education and care.
