Submission to Inquiry into the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026

The Australian Gambling Research Centre (AGRC) welcomes the opportunity to provide a response to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sports and the Arts (DITRDCSA) Inquiry into the Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026 and the National Self-Exclusion Register (Cost Recovery) Bill 2026.

Our submission focuses on recommendations that would support the achievement of the Bill’s key objectives. AGRC was commissioned by DITRDCSA in 2024 to estimate the potential socio-economic benefits of a ban on wagering advertising in Australia, including benefits to wagerers, affected others, the community and government (the AGRC wagering advertising research). The final report was submitted to DITRDCSA on 18 July 2024, and a summary of our findings was reported in the Office of Impact Analysis (OIA) report (DITRDCSA, 2026b).
