Australian Institute of Family Studies Director Anne Hollonds told Channel Nine’s Today’s Agenda: ‘How much time the children spend with each parent is not the most important thing. The most important thing is the co-parenting, which is now the standard that we're trying to encourage.’

Drawing on research from AIFS’ Experiences of Separated Parents Study, Ms Hollands said: ‘How much time the children spend with each parent is not the most important thing – the most important thing is the co-parenting, which is now the standard that we're trying to encourage.

'It's actually short for "co-operative parenting" so the emphasis needs to be on the "cooperative".'
