Inquiry into the health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia

This submission by AIFS is made in response to the Parliament of Australia’s House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Disability Inquiry into the Health impacts of alcohol and other drugs in Australia.

The terms of reference state that this is a 'health-focused review of alcohol and other drugs policy, treatment services, community programs, and workforce, to determine whether the current settings appropriately support the prevention, reduction and recovery of alcohol and other drugs-related health harms on individuals, families and communities'.

This submission presents insights from AIFS datasets that are critical to the Committee’s consideration of the Terms of Reference for this Inquiry. In particular, the data presented in this submission identifies the health impacts of alcohol and other drug use in Australia, and insights into the people and families experiencing these impacts.
