Kei Sakata
Theme Head | Gambling Harm
Dr Kei Sakata is Theme Head, Gambling Harm at the Australian Institute of Family Studies and leads the Australian Gambling Research Centre (AGRC). An economist with more than 25 years of experience, he specialises in policy evaluation, gambling research and advanced econometric analysis. His work focuses on understanding gambling harm, evaluating gambling regulations and policies, and examining the impacts of gambling on individuals and families.
Kei leads research and evaluation projects that support evidence-based policy and regulatory reform across Australia. He is particularly interested in consumer protection, risk-based regulation, and the use of robust causal methods to generate practical insights for government, regulators and service providers.
