Our data linkage services
We are the national data linkage and integration authority for major longitudinal studies which conduct research into family, children, migrants and men’s health. We also provide secure and ethical access to a range of administrative and survey data sources for researchers, policy makers and service providers.
Data linkage
We link data from different sources to create new datasets that can answer complex research questions and inform policy and practice. We have expertise in sophisticated data linkage methodologies for linking unit record data.
Data integration
We integrate data from different sources to create a comprehensive and coherent picture of the issues and outcomes affecting families, children and communities. We integrate data from various sources at the individual or organisation level, or through geographic matching.
Data access
We facilitate access to data through various platforms and mechanisms, such as the AIFS Virtual Data Lab and the Australian Data Archive.
Data governance
We ensure that data are used in a secure, ethical and responsible manner, in accordance with the relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.
Quality assurance
We assess and improve the quality of data by ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness and relevance.
Our Virtual Data Lab
We offer a Virtual Data Lab (VDL) service – a secure online environment where researchers can access and analyse de-identified data from various sources without having to download or store the data on their own devices. The VDL provides a range of tools and software for data analysis and visualisation, as well as technical support and guidance from our data experts.
