Overview

This publication consists of the proceedings of a series of 1983 public seminars which were based on Institute of Family Studies policy background papers on family support and children's services. Synopses of these papers are included in Section 1 of the publication as follows: 'Issues confronting the localisation of services to children and families' by Frank Maas; 'Services to families: with many a slip' by Jim Alexander; 'Children's services' by Deborah Brennan; 'Social support and access to resources in an Australian community' by Peter D'Abbs; and 'Families' access to and use of support networks: some case studies' by Jean McCaughey. Section 2 comprises papers and comments presented by politicians, government officers and community representatives relevant to their particular State. Some of these are indexed separately.
