Longitudinal studies

Melissa Suares is an Epidemiologist and Health Informatician with over 20 years of experience working in the Health and Human Services sectors, specialising in Data Management and Analytics. Melissa has a diverse range of technical and leadership expertise in end-to-end data system solutions including architecture, acquisition, modelling, analytics, and visualisation. She is a highly regarded leader for building and developing high-performing teams in reaching their target state and operating models. She has worked for both State and Federal Governments and within Biotechnology, Medical Negligence Law, Disability, Public Hospitals, and Clinical Trials Research. Previously, she was Head of Insights and Analytics for an ASX-listed Health Data Analytics Company where she led multiple large-scale digital transformation projects.

Melissa joined AIFS in October 2022 as the Lead for Data Management and Linkage where her expertise, experience, and leadership underpin the Institute’s data, linkage, integration, and governance functions across its three main longitudinal studies. 
Melissa is an Associate Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology and a Master's degree in Clinical Data Management, both from the University of Sydney. In addition, she also holds a first-class honours degree in Health Information Management from Latrobe University where her research focused on Pre-hospital, Emergency, and Trauma Medicine.
