Overview
This paper briefly reviews several public opinion polls conducted to gauge public attitudes to the Child Support Scheme. It then describes responses of the PCMB sample (the Institute's Parents and Children After Marriage Breakdown Survey, 1987) to the attitudinal questions asked in the survey and explores background factors shown to have influenced men's and women's opinions.
This report is based on data from the Australian Institute of Family Studies' Parents and Children After Marriage Breakdown (PCMB) Study. The PCMB study is part of the Institute's Australian Family Reformation Project.
