Overview

The bibliography lists references to Australian works published since 1980 on the topic of the rights of children and young people. It presents the viewpoints of lawyers, politicians, researchers and academics, parents and children, social workers and teachers. Sections are: Children's rights (covers definitions, theories, organisations, international agreements); Children (including Aboriginal, disabled and migrant children); Parent rights; Child welfare (includes child abuse, homelessness, adoption and foster care); Services to children and families; Legal issues (including child custody, access, maintenance, juvenile justice, exnuptial children); Medical issues (including medical treatment and sterilisation of disabled children; child health; abortion; AIDS; consent of minors to medical treatment); Reproductive technology (including surrogacy); Education. An unofficial summary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is also provided.
