While the ability of mothers to juggle work and family commitments has long been known to affect children, the survey of 2496 families shows dads’ work matters too. Dads report wanting to be there more for their children, but their work often doesn't allow them to do so.

Eight per cent of the Australian adult population – or 1.4million people – experience some degree of gambling problem. Of these almost half are moderate or high risk gamblers, with poker machines the most harmful form of gambling in Australia.
