The Defence and Veteran Family Research team undertake research on the families of current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force, including their experiences of service life, wellbeing and service and support needs.
Key recent research includes the:
- ADF Families Survey, a joint initiative of the Department of Defence and Defence Families of Australia,
- Australian Military and Veteran Families Study, a qualitative study undertaken for the Departments of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs, and
- Strengthening and protecting veteran family relationships, new research to inform the development of programs and services for military and veteran families.
This project has been extended with a second phase of work. We are examining an extended body of evidence on relationship programs which is due to be completed in September 2024.
The team collaborate with other agencies on a range of projects to inform the design and delivery of policies, programs, and services for military and veteran families.
