About the study

Growing Up in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) is a major study following the development of 10,000 children and families from all parts of Australia. The study commenced in 2004.

The study addresses a range of research questions about parenting, family relationships, childhood education, non-parental child care and health. By tracking children over time, the study is able to determine the individual, family, and broader social and environmental factors that are associated with consistency and change in developmental trajectories.

A major aim is to identify policy opportunities for improving support for children and their families and for early intervention and prevention strategies.
