Helplines and telephone counselling

If you believe a person is in immediate danger, call Police on 000.

If you or someone you know is in crisis and you are unsure which service to call, phone Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call-Back Service on 1300 659 467.

Both are available from anywhere in Australia 24 hours a day (toll free) and provide generalist crisis counselling, information and referral services.

If you or someone you know needs non-immediate help, our list of helplines and telephone counselling services may be able to assist you.
